Cisco switch configure without Flash File

This document is to address that a corrupt flash or no flash file on an IOS system.


In boot-up you will see the following error.

Quote

no such file or directory

Interrupt within 5 seconds to abort boot process.

Boot process failed...


The system is unable to boot automatically. The BOOT environment variable needs to be set to a bootable image.

In hyper terminal at the switch: prompt, please follow below.
Switch: type the information listed.
Switch: copy xmodem: flash:filename.bin (Example: switch: copy xmodem: flash: c3750-ipbase-mz.122-25.SEC.bin)

Go to Hyperterminal – Transfer – Send File.
Browse to your flash file.
Protocol is Xmodem.
Hit the enter button,
This will take a long time to transfer the file. Over 2 hours.
