PageDefrag uses advanced techniques to provide you what commercial defragmenters cannot: the ability for you to see how fragmented your paging files and Registry hives are, and to defragment them. In addition, it defragments event log files and Windows 2000/XP hibernation files (where system memory is saved when you hibernate a laptop).
If you ever want to stop using it:
Now you can also delete the PageDefrag files (e.g.: c:\Program Files\Sysinternals\Pagedefrag\ )
- unzip somewhere (e.g.: c:\Program Files\Sysinternals\Pagedefrag\ )
- run it from a cmd
- select the "Defragment every boot" radio button
- you can set the "Defrag abort countdown" to desired seconds, set it to zero to avoid waiting
- press OK, and you're done.
If you ever want to stop using it:
- run it
- select "Dont defragment (uninstall)" radio button
- press OK
Now you can also delete the PageDefrag files (e.g.: c:\Program Files\Sysinternals\Pagedefrag\ )
