search job government hunt
Most people that know me know that my goal is to go back to work for the government. I am no longer eligible to join a service (due to my back) but I could work as a civilian contractor (preferably GS12 or higher).
So I am starting this blog as a way to track my progress on finding a job since I have been informed that I have three months max with my current position.
There are few websites that have government jobs posted which the post popular is usajobs.gov
Of course once you find a job that is open, you need to validate what the pay range is which is noted by GS level typically (which I need a GS12 or GS13 to stay around my current pay range).
Then you need to prepare a resume following the federal resume format which I ordered a book to help me with this which I have not yet received but is highly recommended all over the internet when it comes to govt. jobs. First book is called BOOK OF US GOVT JOBS (10TH ED) and the other book is called FEDERAL RESUME GUIDEBOOK (4TH ED) I'll keep you posted on my review of these two books.
Next you flood usajobs.gov with your resume. Here are some forms that I found that need to be filled out as well.
Application for Federal Employment
Veteran 5-10 Point Preference Application
